What is your understanding of gender?
I would distinguish between sex and gender. Sex is biological (male, female, inter...) whilst gender is more societal formed. As soon as a baby is born society will sort it into either female or male and judge their behavoir into "typical boy or girl". Through this stereotypical thinking people (esp. Babys) form their (gender) identity.
What is your understanding of gender inequality?
Ex.g. gender pay gap. Through patriarchy men are more privileged in specific areas (or menly attributes are more wanted/ pleased) and therefore women can be discriminated ex.g. in the work field because of their gender and earn less. Or their work (care work for ex.) is less valued and thus payed than "typical" men dominated professions.
What is your personal opinion about gender
non-binary?
I think it is a personal choice an intersexual has to choose. I think we don't just have two sexes (binar) but more. The spectrum of gender is way too wide for just two sexes.
What is your understanding of intersectionality?
If a black woman facing a discriminating act e.g. losing her job, she might not only be discriminated by her gender but also by her race. If more than one social category (race, class, gender...) is overlapping with another in a disciminatory way we can speak about intersectionality. A white woman is facing different discriminations than a black woman.
Can you name any significant inequalities in your country?
Gender pay gap, the cultural capital of a childs parents is effecting the judgement of the teacher in regard of grades and effort, POCs or people with a non-german name face discrimination on the job and residental marked
What are the 3 most important factors for a
gender inclusive society?
Stereotypical gender characteristics and binar gender roles should be questioned: why is handcraft more valued than doing make up? Why should men be strong and women soft? We should acknowledge that differences between the same sex are bigger than between men and women. There are specific biological organs that are typical men or women: penis/ vagina but the brain (and its functions) is mainly the same despite the sex/gender
